About the Role:

Groupon is looking for a Software Engineer III to join its Cloud Centre of Excellence (Cloud Routing Team). The role involves designing and maintaining global cloud infrastructure, defining architecture standards, ensuring cloud cost efficiency, and enabling teams to seamlessly adopt cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Google Cloud Deployment Manager
• Support onboarding of engineering teams to Groupon’s AWS and GCP cloud systems
• Implement and maintain IAM and access control best practices
• Automate cloud account provisioning and modifications across AWS & GCP
• Develop and enforce cloud operation guardrails
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure scalable and secure cloud design
• Provide support for cloud-related issues and participate in triage and on-call rotation
• Define and monitor platform availability, performance, and usability metrics

Key Technical Skills

Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, AWS, GCP, Cloud IAM & governance, CI/CD pipelines, Python / Go / Scala (preferred), DevOps mindset

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in production AWS or GCP environments
• Proven experience automating services at scale in cloud using IAC tools
• Deep understanding of account governance, access protocols, and security
• Experience supporting cloud issues and working in cross-functional teams
• Strong problem-solving and cloud cost optimization capabilities
• DevOps / CI-CD pipeline integration mindset

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science
• AWS Certification
• Coding experience with AWS APIs
• Experience with Python, Go, or Scala
